Black CPA Review Course

CPA Guide Rating:

"Black CPA Review appears to have made some big improvements. I am going to show you how they compare to the mainstream review courses."

Black CPA Overview

Black CPA review course is one of the newer CPA review courses available for CPA candidate. It was started in November 2011 by Paul Black, CPA. Paul's qualifications include working in a senior position at a Fortune 500 company and he utilized a university professor to assist in designing his curriculum.

The Course

Black CPA review course, similar to Yaeger, utilizes Wiley CPA review course as a guide to candidates as they prepare. The use of Wiley is an excellent and affordable resource as Wiley is updated every year so candidates can take comfort in the fact that the content will be up to date. Similar to Yaeger Paul's format includes videos, flash cards, audio, and Wiley review questions. You can view a sample of Pauls video format on his website. See Audit example below:

Pros & Cons of Black CPA

Pros include the following:
- Paul gives you a great video and audio option to guide you through the Wiley material and presents it in an easy to understand format with the use of the white board.
- Customer support gives you direct access to Paul who is available to contact with any of your questions. This is a great resource to have.
- While being priced at $995 it is very reasonably priced.

Cons include the following:
- Being a newer review course it has not built up its reputation to the level of Yaeger or Becker. Based on the samples provided on the Black CPA review website you can make a judgement for yourself and see the quality of the instruction provided by Paul.
- Paul does not appear to have any previous lecturing experience, but has had extensive experience in the private sector.

Black CPA Conclusion:

Black CPA review is a great addition to the review courses currently available to CPA candidates. I recommend visiting the Black CPA Review website and checking out the samples provided by Paul of his instructing format to help you in making your decision. My impression is that Paul Black provides a great service in summarizing and explaining the Wiley material in an easy to understand format that you would not be able to obtain on your own. By following his instruction then you will certainly increase your odds of passing the CPA exam than if you had only gone with Wiley on its own.
